What fun to be working with Quilters With Heart to teach the eager Scouts of NE Ohio to sew and quilt!
They are making fun cross body bags and cuddly rag quilts. Members shared great ideas for getting organized! Here's the presentation with links to great resources. AQS American Quilter had a great article. If you are a member, you can get this from the August 2020 issue of American Quilter. If you aren't, borrow a copy of that issue from a friend.

We love to make quilts, and what's better than making baby quilts? Here are some ideas for using all the flannel we had donated to make quilts for Catholic Charities "Help Me Grow" program. You can make whatever you would like. Finished quilts should be at least 36" square. Suggested width is about 40" so you can use one width of fabric for backing.
If you were at the meeting, you know you'll want to read all these books (Judith, did we get you interested?) and add the quilting books to your own library.
We had some great tips and fun discussion! Check out the Show and Tell from the meeting on the Photo Gallery page, and here's the presentation with tips and links....
From Cecily at Sew Creative Lounge
Here's a fun opportunity for adding to your stash! "My name is Cecily and I'm co-owner of Sew Creative Lounge in Maryland. We specialize in African print fabrics including pre-cut jelly rolls, charm packs, fat quarters and patty cakes. We launched our online store at the top of the pandemic so we are relatively new to the scene. I'm reaching out to you to see if you think members of Memory Makers Quilt Guild would be interested in our fabric. If so, I will set up a discount code of 10% off for your current members. This code will be valid for 2021 and I will follow up next year should you want to continue this benefit for your members. Here is the link to our website and the pre-cut fabric. " Code is Memory10 and valid until December 31, 2021 Peg shared these videos that give more information about the bags Ronnie showed us during our meeting at Polka Dot Pincusion
Lorrie Nunemaker’s Youtube videos for the guild: Here is the one that Ronnie referred to. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fyxhkh9a54 This one shows the two options that Ronnie showed us. Very cute and easy! Here is a second video by the same gal, Lorrie Nunemaker in which she makes a card wallet from a placemat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pxsyabkt_po And a third one in which Lorrie makes a boxie bag from a placemat!! This one looks really neat!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4fNzxYgH30 |
