I'm one of the newer members of the guild & I'd like to propose a service project idea. My sister recently had knee replacement surgery & I've been helping her recuperate. I made quilted walker caddies for her to be able to keep her glasses, hearing aids, notebook & pen for pain medication recording, a space to put a closed insulated cup so she could carry her coffee back to her chair.
You can see the ones I've already made on my blog here:
I think this would be a wonderful project to do for local nursing homes. They are simple enough & give one a place to practice their free motion quilting. I'm working on a tutorial on my blog, just to give some tips on measurements & closures.
I hope to be free of my "private duty" chores so I can attend the next meeting!
Sounds like a great idea !
